At Conservation Media, we not only talk the talk, but we walk it too. Our cutting edge arsenal for in-field HD acquisition includes 100% solar powered professional cameras and lighting kits.
We currently use a JVC GY HD100 for our long lens acquisition. It shoots 720p at 24fps. We love it for the durability and the fact that old Nikon primes fit on there and give us a GREAT magnification because the lenses project onto a 1/3″ chip. We’ll get over it soon, though. We’re transitioning over to 1080p of the Canon 7D.

This is the next acquisition tool for Conservation Media. It’s light and shoots really high quality images onto digital cards, so no more tapes. This is the camera that has a tiny footprint and can go WAY into the back country.

At Conservation Media, we charge all of our HD cameras with the sun. We use these lightweight, highly portable SolaRolls. You can get them from several places, but ours comes from Brunton. They are a truly amazing backcountry tool for green filmmaking.
